What is Previs?

Hello Everyone,

Its Josh here from Loveridge Digital, this week on “Getting into it with Loveridge Digital” we are going to cover what Previs is!

So, what is previs?
In a nutshell, previs is the over-arching term for the processes involved in devising a video’s visual battle plan that ensures the goals of a video are met. Previs will consist of storyboarding, creating shot-lists and other production elements which we have covered before.
Pre-visualization helps everyone involved in the production to have a shared vision and a firm grip on complex sequences prior to starting production.

So why do you need previs?
Previs allows all members of a production to refine their thoughts and to ensure a coherent vision and storyline for the project is upheld, It also ensures that no time is wasted on shoot day which in turn makes the production not only budget-friendly but extremely effective

Now I want you to imagine if you wanted to create an animated promo for your new gleaming product and halfway through you realize you need to change something because it was never thought about in the beginning, all of your efforts and money would go in vain because you’d have to start over. Previsualization saves you from encountering such uncomfortable scenarios and trust me if their is one thing you never want to do when halfway through any production its starting over. Not only will your wallet be unhappy but your production team will be demoralized.

Content creation can be a bumpy ride if you hire the wrong production team, but a quality agency will always do previsualization to help pave the way and allow you to envision success before you even get started. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video, I hope you found it informative and engaging, until next time.
