What teleprompters are and what they are used for?

Hello Everyone,

It’s Josh here from Loveridge Digital, this week on “Getting into it with Loveridge Digital” we are going to cover what teleprompters are and what they are used for?

So what is a teleprompter and how will it be used during a production?

When you are a speaker in a production often times it can be challenging to remember your lines especially if you don’t be on camera very often, This in turn is known to create anxiety and stress leading up to the shoot day which in turn makes your delivery on the day less authentic and lower quality. To help avoid this a piece of equipment was developed called a teleprompter, This device essentially dictates words to the speaker via a screen in the form of written text. The advantage of this is that the speaker can read the script word for word, which enables them to
retain an authentic and coherent tone throughout the piece and avoid any mannerisms or mistakes. The teleprompter also allows the speaker to maintain good eye contact with the viewer, as typically the camera is located directly behind the teleprompter to create the illusion that the speaker is looking directly at the lens. Teleprompters are widely known for their use within live broadcasts but have now made their way into main stream productions allowing speakers to focus on what’s important on the day!
Teleprompters also save money as less mistakes on the day means less time in post which in turn reduces editing costs!

It is often the simple things in life that are the most effective and having the ability to read your lines in your next video may just be a lifesaver!

Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video, I hope you found it informative and engaging, until next time.
