What are Vanishing Points?

Hello Everyone,

It’s Josh here from Loveridge Digital, this week on “Getting into it with Loveridge Digital” we are going to cover what Vanishing points are!

Vanishing points are pretty simple, they are the points in which lines meet, This may sound familiar to leading lines! If you thought that you would be right as the vanishing point is composed of leading lines that have met or converged into a single point.

A vanishing point which is sometimes referenced as the convergence point has played a vital and key role in many well-composed pieces of content! The vanishing point adds a sense of depth to a composition it also allows the viewer’s eye to get a sense of distance within the frame. Many content creators utilize this effect to their advantage and often lead the viewer’s eye to a focal point or draw the viewer away from an element.

Often times there will be multiple vanishing points within a frame which can be a blessing and a curse! Especially when you are trying to create a well balanced and framed composition.

Now that you know what a Vanishing point is look out for them when you are out and about! They are a very subtle element of content creation that springs from the traditional and more contemporary arts such as paintings and while they are usually not the first thing that springs to a content creators mind on set they should be considered and acted upon to set yourself up for success!

Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video, I hope you found it informative and engaging, until next time.
