What is 2D & 3D Animation
Hey Everyone,
Its Josh here from Loveridge Designs, this week on “Getting into it with Loveridge Designs” We are here to discuss the difference between 2D & 3D animation and which is most beneficial for your project.
The terms 2D and 3D are used to indicate dimensions.
2D which stands for Two-Dimensional represents an object in two dimensions where as 3D or three-dimensional represents an object in three dimensions.
objects in a 2D animation are merely flat, such as a picture or a photograph. In 3D animation, objects are like sculptures since they have a front, back, top and bottom.
To select what type of animation to use for your project their is many factors you must take into account some of which I will discuss today:
#1 target audience:
If your project is intended for wide audiences, 2D animation is usually easier to use because it appeals to all forms of audiences and is easy to absorb.
If the project is used by professionals in a particular sector who need detailed and highly technical details, then the use of 3D animation is better.
The example i like to give is a 2D video of a surgical operation would not be sufficient enough to teach medical students how to operate whereas 3D videos are utilized on a day to day basis to teach medical students worldwide.
#2 Price:
2D projects typically have a price that is much more affordable than 3D projects. The technical complexity in 3D is much greater and needs multiple experts to produce
#3 Timeline:
3D projects are much more time-intensive to create due to the numerous processes required such as sculpting, rigging, skinning, animating , texturing, rendering etc, 2D animations can be quick to create and are not as complex
Thanks you very much for taking the time to watch the video, I hope you found it both informative and engaging.
Until next time!
