What is the golden hour and what does it mean?
Hello Everyone,
It’s Josh here from Loveridge Digital, this week on “Getting into it with Loveridge Digital” we are going to cover what Golden hour is.
Often times when apart of any video production you may hear the term “Golden Hour” thrown about, but what does it actually mean? Well, the term Golden hour typically refers to the hour after sunrise and before sunset, In simple terms it’s the time of the day when the sun is at the lowest position in the sky which in turn makes shadows softer and the colour temperature warmer than it was at midday. It turns out that this time of day compliments humans very well when it comes to video production and photography as it makes the subject appear more aesthetically appealing but it also provides a greater hue to the environment around the subject,
Golden hour is preferred by many production companies when they are shooting certain types of scenes that are trying to convey an emotion or feel magical, For example, most travel videos have some shots that are during golden hour as it amplifies that magical feeling many feel while traveling or that sense of adventure, it draws you in and makes you want to visit that location. This methodology can be seen throughout all genres of video and is a vital tool in your toolkit when trying to create not only an effective but moving piece.
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video, I hope you found it informative and engaging, until next time.
